At Abbey Mead Primary Academy, we are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to become our Send Provision Base Teacher (Internal Alternative Provision). We are a well-established, well-resourced, and continually evolving provision at the heart of our school community.

About the provision

 Our provision supports pupils predominantly in Years 1 to 3 with significant speech, language and communication needs. Many of our pupils are pre-verbal, have diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and hold Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) while awaiting specialist placements. The classroom accommodates  11 pupils, offering a much smaller learning environment than a typical class of 30.

Our aim is to ensure every pupil receives:

• High-quality teaching and learning

• Meaningful communication and interaction opportunities

• A rich and engaging curriculum tailored to individual needs

We are currently developing a hybrid model, enabling pupils to access mainstream lessons wherever possible, alongside targeted support within the provision.

You will have:

• Has a strong interest in SEND, particularly ASD and communication needs

• Is able to adapt teaching to meet a wide range of needs

• Values inclusive practice and collaborative working

• Is passionate about making a difference to pupils with complex needs

• Ability to deal sensitivity with vulnerable pupils and their families.

• Have IT skills sufficient to perform the role

• Be organised and efficient

• Be flexible and able to adapt to rapidly changing situations

• Be able to work as part of a team
