We are looking to appoint a HLTA in our intervention hub. This is an exciting opportunity to support students working towards GCSE, Functional Skills and other alternative qualifications.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who is passionate about working with young people and helping them achieve their best, regardless of the barriers they face. This role involves supporting the behaviour, learning, and progress of students who are following (currently, or potentially in the future) alternative pathways. You will work mainly in our on-site intervention hub and work closely with staff, families, and external agencies as appropriate.
The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with young people in an authoritative yet sensitive manner. This pivotal role will ensure that all students have access to a broad range of opportunities within our internal provision, delivering bespoke programmes, supporting their personal development, and fostering a strong sense of belonging.
Key responsibilities
• Plan, deliver and support alternative learning programmes for students at risk of exclusion, including after-school interventions.
• Support student accreditation and achievement, with a focus on the most vulnerable.
• Coordinate and run activities that develop students’ social, emotional, and behavioural skills.
• Help students reflect on behaviour, make amends, and adopt more positive strategies.
• Maintain accurate records for students in both internal and external provisions.
• Collaborate with staff, parents, and external agencies to support reintegration, transitions, and individual behaviour plans (IEPs/PSPs).
• Lead targeted short-term projects and provide follow-up strategies after exclusions.
• Promote high expectations and guide behaviour reflection in our internal provision.
The ideal candidate will:
• Be motivated with a passion for the development of students’ personal and academic growth.
• Be organised, proactive, and able to inspire students who are following (currently, or potentially in the future) alternative pathways.
• Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and build effective relationships across the school community.
• Be committed to promoting inclusivity and equity in student inclusion and belonging.
